HOLT & GRAIN is a two-bench studio in Portland. We design, build, and install cabinetry and furniture for homes that are already lived in.

Smoked oak doors hide the router, the records, and the cables. The open bay holds the things you actually want to see. The television sits flush, not mounted on top.

The parts
you touch.

Pulls are solid brass, set by hand. Doors hang on adjustable hinges so they still line up in year ten. Interiors are finished, not just boarded.

    Survey

    We measure the room, look at the light, and talk through how you use it.

  2. 02

    Design

    You get a plan, elevations, and a fixed price before anything is cut.

  3. 03

    Sample

    Finish samples come to your house, in your light, not a showroom.

  4. 04

    Build

    Your project is made in our Portland workshop by the same two people.

  5. 05

    Install

    We fit, adjust, and clean up. You get the room back the same week.

We build in oak, walnut, and ash. Offcuts become drawer dividers. Hardware is chosen for the hand that will use it, not the photograph.
